Bryce and Susie are the best man and maid-of-honor at their best friends' wedding. There is an attraction but much miscommunication. I loved these two characters. They were well defined and remained true to themselves. They did what I expected them to do. I laughed as some of the things they did and I cared for them. I enjoyed the two points of view. I wish it were a little more even between the two of them. It was more Susie's story. I wanted them to fall in love and get a HEA.
The secondary storyline of Milly and Cam, the bride and groom, was interesting also. I liked that their story was told through Bryce and Susie's eyes. I also liked how the four of them created a family who had each other's backs. Milly's mother and Cam's father were pieces of work. They deserved each other.
While the story was predictable, the author made me care about Susie and Bryce. I liked their strength, alone and together. I also liked they knew each other well enough to call them on garbage.
This is a quick, easy read. I look forward to more from Ms. Fawkes.
