THE BAD BOY AND THE BILLIONAIRE by Alyse Zaftig
| A lot happens in this story where Benjamin and Raphael both want Sarah. I liked Sarah and Benjamin. Both are strongly developed characters. Sarah is fantastic. She has achieved success in the law field. She is mature and responsible. Benjamin has created a successful internet company. Raphael needs to grow up. He is immature and a playboy. I do not see how Benjamin and Sarah put up with his behavior. He is the least developed character in the book. The story is interesting as Benjamin tries to outmaneuver someone who wants to take over his company. The secondary story of Benjamin asking Sarah to get Raphael out of a Dubai prison after attempts on his life also is somewhat believable but needed fleshed out as it was too easy to spring Raphael. What should have been the romance part is shortchanged. Both men want to marry Sarah and suddenly she springs on them a polyamory marriage. And my jaw hung open because where did that come from because no one had thought, let alone talked, about a threesome. There was no lead-in, no build-up, no foreshadowing that any of the three would want to be together. The relationship needed to be worked on especially since Benjamin had never had a girlfriend and Sarah never thought of Benjamin sexually as she did Raphael. With a longer story the romance could have been realistic and the Dubai story could have been better. I hope this tale can be revised and lengthened as Benjamin and Sarah deserve it and Raphael can grow up. |
