BENCHED, PART 1 by Colleen Charles
| Adam has been injured and cannot play hockey. After receiving the news from the doctor that his hockey career may be over, he discovers his fiancée and brother having sex. As if the day could not get any worse, he gets drunk and has an accident. A high school teammate's sister, Julia, hears about the accident and goes to him. She has always had feelings for him. I enjoyed this story and characters. Adam feels pretty sorry for himself but when he cuts someone off, he cuts them off. He is trying to control his feelings for Julia but he feels more for her than for his fiancée. When Julia gets into trouble Adam is there to rescue her. But we are left hanging as to what causes Julia's friend to call her the day after the rescue. And I want to know what it is! The build-up in the phone call of Julia's problem was well done. It has whetted my appetite for more. |
