Cecelia is set to marry Devin but she's not sure she's the right wife for him. Devin wants to curb her impulsiveness. When the jewels that are to auctioned off by her family are stolen, suspicion falls on Devin. Cecelia knows he did not do it but and she sets out to prove it.
I loved Cecelia. Devin I warmed up to. He wants a prim and proper wife and Cecelia is not that. She is impulsive but intelligent. When he is in trouble she never doubts him but sets out to absolve him. He follows her because he knows she is his way to innocence. He slowly comes around to see that what he wants to change in her is what draws him to her. He learns what love is--accepting Cecelia for what she is, not his ideal.
The secondary characters are interesting. They get into the underbelly of London. The Comte is not what most see. Her parents have no idea how wonderful Cecelia and her sister are. Cecelia's sister is a wonderful spy. She rarely misses anything and I'd like to see her story.
