It's Christmas time and Eve's foster mother walks back into her life with the intent to blackmail her and/or Roarke. Instead she is murdered and now Eve must stand for her. Eve lets it be known that she knew the victim so there will be no conflict of interest or questions. She then has to go back to her past and other fosters' pasts to find the murderer.
I love this series. Eve and Roarke fight but Eve learns what it means to have someone in her corner who will be there no matter what. She learns to apologize also. Good addition to the series.
