In April 1986 the Los Angeles Public Library central branch had a fire that destroyed much of its inventory. We did not hear about it since Chernobyl happened at the same time. So much was lost. I liked how the book was set up. She talked about the fire and the investigation into it. She spoke of the current librarians and the fire's affect on them. The history of the library was interesting as was the arson investigation. I had goosebumps as she described the fire and cried with the librarians. I found it fascinating how much was saved and the preservation of it. This is a book for everyone.
